Interlock, decks & renovations in Sydenham

A village where the same family has kept the general store since 1836 understands doing one thing well for a long time. That’s the way we build — on the lake, in the village, and out along the Shield roads.

Serving Sydenham

Lake village standards, Shield-country builds

Sydenham gathers around its lake — the regatta, the Point, the beach — and around a main corner where Trousdale’s has traded continuously since 1836. It’s a village that notices workmanship, in a township full of lakeside properties that demand it.

Thirty minutes up Sydenham Road from our Kingston base, we build driveways, patios, decks, fences and interiors across the village and the South Frontenac lakes around it — Sydenham, Gould, and the cottage roads between.

  • Interlock driveways, patios, walkways & steps
  • Decks & fences in pressure-treated wood, PVC & aluminum
  • Interior renovations — bathrooms, basements, tile & flooring

Local knowledge

Two geologies, one standard

Sydenham famously straddles the line where the limestone plain gives way to the Canadian Shield. South of the village you dig into workable soil over flat rock; north of it, granite breaks the surface and every project starts with what the site will allow. We’ve built on both, and it changes everything from base depth to drainage to where the steps should land.

Waterfront work adds its own rules — setbacks, shoreline grades and surfaces that can take wet feet and winter ice. Docksides, lakeside patios and deck stairs down to the water get materials and footings chosen for the job, not the catalogue.

Sydenham FAQ

Working with Gonzo in Sydenham

Do you cover Sydenham and the South Frontenac lakes?
Yes — the village, Sydenham Lake, Gould Lake and the cottage roads around them are all inside our regular radius, about 30 minutes north of Kingston. Request a quote and we’ll come walk the property.
Can you build near the water — docks, lakeside patios, stairs?
We build lakeside patios, deck systems and shoreline stairs regularly. Waterfront projects get frost-depth footings, grippy surfaces that handle wet feet and ice, and grading that protects the shoreline. Where township shoreline rules apply, we flag them in the quote stage.
What if my property is on bare Shield rock?
Granite isn’t a problem — it’s actually a stable base when the build is designed for it. We adapt excavation and bedding to the rock, anchor where needed, and route water around the outcrops. The site visit tells us exactly what we’re working with before you see a number.
